Tensions in West Asia have escalated sharply over the past 24 hours as Iran dealt a significant blow to the United States. Amid ongoing conflict that has lasted nearly five weeks, Iran successfully targeted two US aircraft in a single day, deepening the crisis in the region. One American pilot remains missing, raising concerns in Washington.
On Iranian soil, the Iranian military shot down a US F-15E fighter jet. The aircraft, carrying two pilots, was confirmed downed by officials from both countries. One pilot has been rescued, while the second remains unaccounted for, prompting urgent search efforts.
Earlier the same day, a US A-10 Warthog attack aircraft crashed over Kuwait. According to US authorities, the pilot safely ejected and was later rescued. These back-to-back incidents represent one of the most significant setbacks for the US Air Force since the conflict began.
Rescue missions for the missing F-15E pilot proved extremely dangerous. Media reports indicate that two US Black Hawk helicopters sent into Iranian airspace came under fire but managed to exit safely. One pilot was rescued during this operation, though the helicopters may have sustained damage.
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has launched a campaign in southwestern Iran to locate the missing pilot, offering rewards for information or capture. Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf mocked the US, noting the focus has shifted from regime change to the search for American pilots.
When asked, President Donald Trump insisted that the recent incidents would not affect talks, stating, “No, absolutely not. This is war.” The events complicate his earlier claims of full US control over Iranian airspace.
